Camel x Navy: My Last-Second Look

Comfort vs. Style ;)

 Hat - gift shop (similar) | Raincoat - Tory Burch (old, love this one) | Vest - J.Crew | Sweater - J.Crew | Top - J.Crew Factory (similar) | Jeans - AG Jeans | Shoes - New Balance | Earrings - J.Crew | Purse - J.Crew

The weatherman was spot on with his forecast for this weekend: it was chilly and rainy all day Saturday until the evening where we were blessed with bitter cold but spectacular sunset views over the bay.

As soon as I saw the weather was going to be as predicted, I grabbed for my go-to outfit without a second thought (also seen in this post). I wear this look quite frequently in cooler temperatures like this as it is comfortable but stylish and I feel put-together when I wear it, the pieces have a more timeless look so they work for both casual and more upscale events (usually trade out my jeans for ones without holes when that's the case), and the layers allow me to adjust to the temperatures as the day progresses.

I have a few other looks that act as a sort of security blanket I rotate through in my closet. For someone who frequently oversleeps and has to get ready for work in 10-15 minutes, these looks are lifesavers; I can always rely on to grab them in a pinch and look like I spent more time getting ready!

Hope you all had a great weekend!

Keeping it Casual

Jacket - H&M (old, love this similar one in white) // Shirt - Max Studio (similar) // Sweater - J.Crew // Pants - J.Crew // Shoes - New Balance // Backpack - Coach // Shades - Ray-Ban

I love dressing up in cute dresses and heels as much as the next girl (except maybe my sisters...they can't stand heels), but there is something to be said about a comfy, laid-back look. I've been loving the  sports luxe trend going on lately and when I spied these black New Balance runners, I knew I had to snatch them up.

Best. Purchase. Ever. These shoes are so comfortable, I never want to take them off. I plan on taking them on my Europe trip in May after learning my lesson last summer just how rough walking all day in unsupportive sandals can be on your feet.  And hopefully since it's trendier to wear sneakers around, I won't look like such a tourist...except my picture taking and shock and awe look on my face might give it away ;) Hey, at least they're not white (which I want as well :) )

What to Pack: Festival Season

Shorts - Hendrix Bandits // Round Sunnies - Topshop // Heart Sunnies - Wildfox Couture // Crop Top - American Eagle // Ankle Booties - Stuart Weitzman // Backpack - Miss Selfridge // Fanny Pack - Free People // Runners - New Balance

With SXSW currently underway in Austin, music festival season has officially begun! Normally this would just make me sad since it meant the time of year when I sit at my desk looking through Facebook pictures of friends having a blast at Lollapalooza...but not this time! I recently bought a pass for Firefly Music Festival and am giddy with excitement for four days of camping out and listening to unbelievable artists.

Due to my lack of festival attending, my closet is lacking a bit in the free spirit, hippie wear that seems uniform for these events. By scouring through festival fashion on Pinterest for inspiration and the current trends, I've determined the essential items needed for the days of music, sun, and fun:

1. Crop tops
Preferably floral patterned or paying homage to a favorite band of yours

2. Cut-off shorts
The perfect way to recycle those jeans you no longer wear but can't seem to throw out

3. Sunglasses
The quirkier and/or rounder the better

4. Backpack or Fanny Pack
The fanny pack is back whether you like it or not, might as well go all out with a fringed version!

5. Ankle booties
Good for wearing in those fields when dancing to the music and kicking up the dirt and dust

6. Runners (the cute name for sneakers)
For when your feet are tired and can't handle the ankle booties anymore

What items will you be rocking at your next music festival? Will you be following the runway's example and wearing sneakers/runners with everything this spring? Or should gym shoes only be worn at the gym and festival wear at music fests? I'd love to hear your thoughts on these trends! :)

Happy T - 7 Days until Spring!
