Hi everyone! Sorry it's been a while since I've updated my blog...my life has been pretty hectic the last few days with work and studying partial derivatives (Calculus 3, why must you be so difficult?!). I had grand plans to take all of these awesome pictures while in Chicago over the weekend and I literally took only two pictures with my phone. Believe me, I'm mad at myself too! All the more reason to go back soon though, right?! ;)

To celebrate the fact spring is finally here (despite the snow and cold temperatures trying to prove otherwise), here are some great maxi dresses to help kick-start your spring fever with some bright colors! For how much I love maxi dresses, I'm sad to say that I only have one in my closet. This needs to change because they are the perfect staple for the spring and summer seasons! Maxi dresses are one of those pieces that easily transitions from day to night with the simple addition of accessories and layers. Wear it at the beach and when it's time to get dinner in the evening, throw over a jean or moto jacket with a necklace and a ring or two and you're good to go!

My senior year of high school I may or may not have fallen victim to wearing workout clothes nearly 24/7, and that may or may not have followed me into college...

Luckily for me and other lazy Sporty Spice girls, our laid back look is right on trend this spring season! Think athletic wear with a feminine twist...silk track pants with floral print, wedge sneakers, even ponytails with a baseball hat! And all in pretty pastels!

Ever since I saw this picture of the lovely Cara Delevingne strutting her stuff, I've been wanting to "recreate" Roberto Cavalli's runway look. Once again, I am in love with the wedding of feminine and masculine details that is currently trending. I'm planning on rocking a similar ensemble come springtime and throughout the summer!

As a newly recent working girl, I don't exactly have the money reserves to go buy this exact outfit sadly. Because of this, I came up with three different outfits inspired by the look for people with different budgets. And since my blog's name is coffee-inspired, it was only fitting to label the budgets after different coffee sizes. :)

Happy Presidents' Day to all my fellow Americans! I was a little bummed to be going into work today since I technically could have had the holiday off. Working in the mortgage industry, business operations rely on the Federal Reserve so that loans can be funded. While the Federal Reserve was closed today, we somehow were still able to be open for business.

However, that soon changed when the power went out 2 hours in to work! Without our computers and internet access, there was virtually nothing we could do and were thus sent home. Hurrah! So I technically did get a free holiday :) Thank you, George and Abraham!

Cold Weather Essentials

I had a rude awakening this morning when I walked out the door to head to work and was met with blustery winds and a temperature of -8 degrees! The second part of the rude awakening is when I realized how ill prepared my wardrobe is for the bitter cold.

Luckily for my poor planning self, most stores are having major sales right now on all of their winter items. While the majority of us may be in the heart of winter battling to stay warm, clothing retailers have their sights on spring and making room for their next collection's inventory. Go check out your favorite stores and see what sort of steals you can grab! You know I have my eyes on that J.Crew sale ;) I mean, an extra 40% off sale items?! I think I'm in heaven! *cue Hallelujah music*

School is Back in Session!

While I didn't make any resolutions for myself this year, I did sit down and think about what sort of career I want in the future. From this I created a career plan where I wrote out what I needed to accomplish in order to obtain my ideal job. The first part of the plan began with going back to school. I need to complete a few courses before I can move on to the next part of the plan, which is grad school and passing a series of exams to become certified to work as an actuary. 

In my excitement of returning to the classroom, I put together a "school uniform" mixed with my own personal style. I won't lie, if I were required to wear something along these lines to class all the time, I'd be one happy camper :)
