Casual Sunday

Trench Coat - Banana Republic // Vest- J.Crew // Turtleneck - J.Crew // Jeans - BKE Denim // Shoes - BCBGeneration // Purse - Dooney & Bourke // Bracelet - Target // Necklace - Thrifted

The weather this weekend was beyond amazing...for March in Michigan that is :). I was able to comfortably wear my trench coat and at points no coat at all! The cold February sure is tough to get through, but it truly does make you appreciate the rising temperature!

This past week has been really great having my sisters in town and my cousin over the weekend. We ate a lot of delicious food, had some good talks over drinks and coffee (and more food), and acted like our crazy selves like we always do when we are together.

I'm sad to see them go, but I won't lie that I'm happy to get back to my normal eating routine. Don't get me wrong, I love eating out, but after so many days of it I just felt sluggish and bloated blah.

Luckily the weather was so nice today and I could enjoy a nice walk with my mom, followed by an entertaining run through town with my friend. It feels so good to start the week with some exercise! Hopefully this will help motivate me to keep up with the routine :)

Happy Spring Forward! :)

23

I had a great weekend of birthday celebrations: there was a lot of eating, watching other people work out, quality family time, and more eating :).

Turning 23 takes me back to my high school days of AP Government, where our class had a running joke about the number 23, based of the suspense thriller movie with Jim Carrey. The movie I guess revolves around this theory how all these bad events that have happened throughout history involve the number 23 in some way. I don't think any of us in the class had even seen the movie, but anytime the number popped up we'd all go "ooooh" and act scared and we thought we were hilarious but really we were a bunch of dorks.

Because of that, I had been having a little mental "oooh" about this birthday, but the day has passed and so far so good *knocks on wood*. With that being said, here's to a year of good memories and new beginnings!

Life in Pictures

New coat arrived just in time for the office holiday party!
Cute little raccoon that was hanging out outside the office. Don't worry, this picture was taken behind glass!
Finally made peace with the cat I was taking care of while housitting!
Scamper the Dancing Penguin, my new desk partner at work.
Flats I returned...they were cute, but I should have read the fine print when ordering them to see that they were metallic gold glitter! Ah, the follies of online shopping ;)
Delicious margarita from the new Cuban restaurant Lena downtown. They use their homemade sour mix and "dirty" salt with basil and other herbs to garnish the rim. Tasty!
"Swaggy" - J.Bieber
Dinner from my recently new favorite restaurant, Antonio's. I sent this picture of the bread to my sisters at school and to say they were jealous would be putting it mildly ;)

Getting personal

I hope everyone is having a fabulous week so far! Today was the first day of a diet I'm trying out where I don't eat gluten or dairy aka the Miley Diet. Like Miley, I'm trying out this diet plan to help prevent symptoms from an autoimmune condition that I have. With the holidays here, this is probably the hardest time to jump on the no-gluten band wagon...everywhere I look there are cookies and candies and everything that I love. While making this post I practically had to wipe the drool off my chin while loading the pasta/bread pictures haha my department at work is having a brunch on Friday which will be my first big test with these new eating guidelines. Wish me luck!
