Happy New Year, everyone!

Like most of the Netflix binging world, my home - and mainly my closet - has been taken over by Marie Kondo. Ironically, I bought her book a few years ago but never opened it...thus it becoming part of the clutter she works on you tidying up :). However, with a new calendar year comes new goals: 2019 is the year of living mindfully.

I started this mindful thinking and living with assessing my shopping habits. After throwing all of my clothes onto my bed, it was embarrassingly obvious that I had a wardrobe exploding with clothes, most of which I never wear. I've pared down my closet to a more acceptable size (which if I'm being honest, could still probably be cut in half), and plan on reviving this blog to capture my daily looks and find what pieces I keep coming back to again and again, and which clothing items just stay on their hangers.

Pink & Blue

Jacket - Miss Selfridge // Shirt - Zara (old, similar here and here) // Skirt - J.Crew (similar here) // Boots - Jeffrey Campbell // Purse - Coach (love this one here) // Shades - Ray-Ban

It's safe to say one of my favorite colors is pink: I once was a pink M&M for Halloween, it's my go to lip color, I always picked pink for my bands for braces, I even chose it as the color for my bathroom counter! I was also 5 years old when I made that decision...but still, pink rocks.

Pink is also very versatile in what colors it works with, largely due to the fact it can range anywhere from baby soft to electric neon in hue. I especially love how it pops when paired with royal blue. It makes for a color combo that stands out but not so much that it is in your face.

A cutesy color combo such as this in my opinion works even better when juxtaposed with items like biker jackets or moto boots to play off the feminine details of the outfit. What can I say, biker/moto jackets just make me feel like I can take on anything...except maybe the cold. I may have to break out my winter coats for that and soon, seeing as it is snowed! Ahhh too soon!

Happy Tuesday, stay warm!
(And to those who live in a warm climate, please enjoy it for my cold, pale self)

She's Always Buzzing Just Like Neon

Dress - J.Crew (old, crave-worthy dress here) // Shoes - Madewell (similar) // Clutch - J.Crew Factory // Hat - J.Crew (25% off sale going on now!) // Jewelry - J.Crew, H&M, Urban Outfitters // Shades - Ray-Ban // Nails - Essie "avenue maintain"

Wearing and accessorizing with bright, neon colors is an easy way to add a little happiness to your day. Bold and bright colors are a favorite of mine come spring and don't leave my wardrobe rotation until it snows (and maybe then some).

It's funny to think that when I was little my favorite color was black! It was all I wanted to wear and the only marker I would use for drawing pictures. Dark colors and black are still a favorite of mine, but luckily I've opened up to other hues outside of the grayscale ;)

Blues, Greens, Wishing for Spring

 Jacket - J.Crew (old) // Blazer - H&M (want this one) // Shirt - J.Crew // Jeans - Forever 21 // Booties - Old Navy (similar) // Clutch - J.Crew // Jewelry - J.Crew, ASOS, H&M (similar) // Scarf - J.Crew

This weekend was spent studying partial derivatives and Lagrange multipliers, and celebrating my dad's birthday. My dad has become a big health nut in recent years, so for his birthday dinner we tried out a vegan restaurant in downtown Ann Arbor called Jazzy Veggie. All of their food was delicious, especially their healthy heart aka sweet potato fries! I could eat those every day and never grow sick of them. :)

Of course, birthday celebrations would be incomplete if we didn't have the whole family together! Because of that, we made a day trip out to Grand Rapids to visit my sisters and of course eat at our favorite Coney Island restaurant (this family loves to eat, if you haven't noticed ;) ).  The rest of the day was spent checking out some new exhibits in the Grand Rapids Art Museum and eating chocolate espresso cake. Yum! :)

It's still cold here in the mitten, but I couldn't resist wearing some fun colors out and about. Maybe if I keep dressing as if it were spring outside, it will eventually warm up?! One can dream!

Happy Monday!

P.S. My sisters and I ended up wearing coordinating colors completely by accident! So, of course, I saw it as a photo opportunity we couldn't pass up...can you tell which individuals weren't too pleased with me about that? ;)

Winter Whites & Florals

Outfit details: Coat - J.Crew // Shirt - Ann Taylor // Pants - J.Crew // Heels - Madewell // Necklace - LOFT // Sunglasses - Marc by Marc Jacobs // Purse- Vintage, unknown

Sundays may be my favorite day of the week: it's a day to recover from the events Saturday held and a day to relax and prepare for the upcoming week. The time on Sundays just seems to move a little slower and I love taking full advantage of that.

The best way to cap off the weekend is sitting down and cuddling up in a blanket to watch Downton Abbey. Such a good, juicy show! I can't believe it's the season finale already :( I guess I'll have to find another show to get wrapped up in for the time being!
