Ripped Denim x Neon

Top - Forever 21 (old, very similar option here) | Cami - J.Crew Factory (on sale!) | Jeans - AG Adriano Goldschmied | Shoes - J.Crew (old, cute pair here) | Clutch - J.Crew Factory (love this option) | Shades - Ray-Ban

I wore this outfit to a Cinco de Mayo party a few weeks ago and had to recycle it again this weekend. It's finally summer weather and while I love my neutrals (I sometimes wonder if gray is my favorite color), I can't resist a look with a good pop of color!

I had accidentally shrunk the top (I'm apparently still learning how to do laundry) and it had been sitting in my closet pretty much since I wore it on my Italy trip (post here). Luckily, crop tops are in now and I don't feel as silly wearing it out and about. I layered it with a cami that perfectly matched the embroidery for a weekend gathering to be a little more family friendly.

I hope everyone had a fabulous weekend with family and friends!

Side story: I thought this shirt was ruined at the Cinco party after a whole glass of red sangria spilled on my back (risks of taking group photos at a party centered around tequila I guess ;) ). By some miracle I managed to get the entire thing out! It may be shrunk, but it isn't stained :)

Gingham x Leather

Dress - Marc by Marc Jacobs | Jacket - Miss Selfridge (similar) | Heels - Madewell (cute alternate here!) | Shades - Banana Republic (love these) | Clutch - J.Crew Factory | Pearls - Graduation Gift, options available here

I scooped up this dress during an online sale a little while ago and had been patiently waiting for the change to wear it out. The style and pink gingham pattern are so feminine and I officially fell in love when I noticed its little details (bow in the back and there's actually a cellphone pocket in the front!).

 Happy MDW, everyone!

PSA: With all the activities on Memorial Day happening, remember to apply sunscreen! I learned my lesson yesterday when I forgot to put some on for a track meet where I sat in the sun all day. Needless to say, I'm pretty pink and sore (as you can see in some of these pictures). I'm taking this experience as a sign I need to invest in a cute sun hat :)

70's Vibe - Through Rose Colored Glasses

Clockwise from top left: Shades | Denim Jacket | Jeans | T-Shirt | Purse | Dress | Shades | Sandals | Jacket | Purse | Jeans | Crop Top

Maybe it's the flowers blossoming or music festival season beginning to kick into high-gear, but I've been really feeling drawn to the influences from 70's fashion. The fringe jackets, lacy details, and rosy pinks are leaving me wanting to hop on the next plane, fly out west, and saddle up on a horse and ride through the desert. In the meantime, I'll keep dreaming and think of outfit ideas to look the part ;)

Pretty in Pastels

Pretty in Pastels

Earrings - Marc by Marc Jacobs // Necklace - Zara // Heels - Zara //  Jacket - Pull&Bear // Coat - Zara // Top - Joa // Purse - Rebecca Minkoff // Heels - Alexander Wang // Heels - Alexander Wang // Heels - Zara // Purse - Loeffler Randall // Purse - ASOS // Shirt - TOPSHOP

Wow, it's been a long time since I've last updated Running on Coffee!
My blog went into hibernation once winter hit, but now it is having a spring awakening! And what better way to kick off its revival than with some pretty spring colors :)

This spring I am feeling all things pink, pastel, and girly! It is still cold and snowy in Michigan so it might be a while before I can pull off some of these pieces (aka open toed shoes), but every degree the temperature rises the more excited I get to work them into my wardrobe. Which judging by the winter we're having may not be until June! ;)

TGIF! It's good to be back :)

Pink & Blue

Jacket - Miss Selfridge // Shirt - Zara (old, similar here and here) // Skirt - J.Crew (similar here) // Boots - Jeffrey Campbell // Purse - Coach (love this one here) // Shades - Ray-Ban

It's safe to say one of my favorite colors is pink: I once was a pink M&M for Halloween, it's my go to lip color, I always picked pink for my bands for braces, I even chose it as the color for my bathroom counter! I was also 5 years old when I made that decision...but still, pink rocks.

Pink is also very versatile in what colors it works with, largely due to the fact it can range anywhere from baby soft to electric neon in hue. I especially love how it pops when paired with royal blue. It makes for a color combo that stands out but not so much that it is in your face.

A cutesy color combo such as this in my opinion works even better when juxtaposed with items like biker jackets or moto boots to play off the feminine details of the outfit. What can I say, biker/moto jackets just make me feel like I can take on anything...except maybe the cold. I may have to break out my winter coats for that and soon, seeing as it is snowed! Ahhh too soon!

Happy Tuesday, stay warm!
(And to those who live in a warm climate, please enjoy it for my cold, pale self)

Bedazzled Boho

Shirt - ASOS // Shorts - VS PINK (want this pair) // Ankle Booties - Isabel Marant (similar) // Jewelry - ASOS, H&M (similar) // Shades - Ray-Ban

For the past week I've been meeting my dad after work and going for a 5 mile walk with him through our favorite parks. Ann Arbor gets its name from the large number of trees found in the city and it does its best to preserve the nature for all to enjoy. Ann Arbor is the equivalency of a small Portland, Oregon and you will find many people biking, running, and being active all year round throughout the city and parks. The best part is most of the nature parks are connected or close enough together where you never have to repeat areas when working out!

I quickly snapped these pictures at the park before I changed into walking clothes and got all sweaty :) There are three farm ducks that were dropped off and now live at the park and I'm obsessed with...they are so cute! The trio wander around together and are surprisingly friendly; sadly, they were not in the mood for a photo op :(

I hope you all have a fabulous Mother's Day weekend! Mine will be spent in Grand Rapids with my sisters then visiting my Grandma and jumping off hay bales on my uncle's dairy farm. :)

TGIF!

She's Always Buzzing Just Like Neon

Dress - J.Crew (old, crave-worthy dress here) // Shoes - Madewell (similar) // Clutch - J.Crew Factory // Hat - J.Crew (25% off sale going on now!) // Jewelry - J.Crew, H&M, Urban Outfitters // Shades - Ray-Ban // Nails - Essie "avenue maintain"

Wearing and accessorizing with bright, neon colors is an easy way to add a little happiness to your day. Bold and bright colors are a favorite of mine come spring and don't leave my wardrobe rotation until it snows (and maybe then some).

It's funny to think that when I was little my favorite color was black! It was all I wanted to wear and the only marker I would use for drawing pictures. Dark colors and black are still a favorite of mine, but luckily I've opened up to other hues outside of the grayscale ;)
